The travelling notebook exhibition of myDetour 5×5 gets to the final stop, in Dakar, as an off event of the Biennale of Contemporary African Art.

The 25 decorated notebooks are showcased on a car rapide, a mini bus very common in the streets of Dakar. Every day the car rapide is doing “opening hopping” through the off events of the Biennale, cruising the streets from one art venue to the other.

Young Guns, as in the famous western movie. This is the title of the competition established by the Art Directors Club seven years ago, selecting the best portfolios submitted by designers, illustrators, photographers, advertisers and art directors worldwide.

Out of countless entries from 84 countries, 50 creative professionals were chosen to join the ADC Young Guns community. Their works have been published in a full-color illustrated Moleskine book, available at the Art Directors Club Online Store.

Moleskine®’s new line of Passions notebooks is designed to appeal to the pursuits of its users.

The Recipes notebook, for example, includes sections that allow aspiring chefs to copy food and wine pairings. Other Passions notebooks are designed for book, movie, wine, music and wellness buffs. Each has sections for scribbling down everything from bits of trivia to brilliant thoughts.

Moleskine® Portable Office

“We want people to be able to recreate their office environment even at home,” says Arnault Castel, whose Working Unit Ltd. is the sole distributor of Moleskine® in Asia.

The new Portable Office line includes ring binders, pocket cards and printable A4 paper, all done up in black-and-ivory Moleskine® style. Not exactly groundbreaking, but as Castel says: “Supermarket stationery doesn’t come this classy.”

The Portable Office line will be available in the latter half of 2010 and retail for TK.

Asian City Notebooks

Billed as “the first guidebook you write yourself,” Moleskine® City Notebooks are little black books with travel maps, space for the names of hotels, restaurants and other tourist attractions, tracing paper and room to record thoughts and observations. The current Asia line, covering “the 4 major Asiatic cities” of Tokyo, Kyoto, Beijing and Hong Kong, will include Shanghai and Singapore notebooks in 2010. Asian City Notebooks retail for about US$18.

Moleskine® releases its first Moleskine® artist cover leather diary with Marti Guixé. Starting in 2010, Moleskine takes a further step to strengthen its alignment with lovers of art and culture by launching the new Artist Cover collection.

The inaugural 2010 edition is designed by acclaimed Spanish designer Marti Guixé, whose works have been exhibited in Moleskine® Detour and in many shows worldwide.

Marti Guixé, a revolutionary Catalonian designer living in Barcelona and Berlin, is very outspoken in his dislike of traditional design. Guixé views design as a platform for questioning, visualising and influencing contemporary human behaviour. In 2001, as a statement against the limited scope of the traditional designer and to open new possibilities for the industry Guixé started the ex-designer movement, defining himself by the same name.

In spite of his critical attitude, Guixé has collaborated with the following brands: Alessi, Camper, Danese, Droog Design, Magis, Vitra, and now Moleskine®.
